www.level1productions.comJosh Berman, the guy behind the vision of Level 1, originally hails from Mt. Kisco, New York. Josh started making ski films during the winter of 1999-2000 as something to keep him busy after a knee injury sidelined him from freeskiing competition.
Put together from a dozen days worth of shooting from that winter, his first film, 'Balance,' was originally designed as something for he and his friends to "watch in their living room."
As it turns out, Josh's "friends" happened to be among the best and most talented pro freeskiers in the world, and their "living room" was extended to Japan, Australia, Europe, and the far reaches of North America when the film was signed on for international distribution and broadcast.
Josh graduated from Dartmouth College in 2001 with a B.A. in filmmaking
and photography, and having moved the Level 1 offices to Denver,
Colorado, has since fully immersed himself in production as a
year-round endeavor. Though remaining true to his East Coast roots,
Josh and Level 1 have come a long way since that first season. Now
recognized as one of the most progressive filmmakers in the ski
industry, Josh strives to capture nothing less than the cutting edge of
the sport in his work, and push the direction of skiing further with
each new award-winning release.
In addition to his dealings with Level 1, Josh is also the Ski Segment
Manager for Spy Optic, and keeps himself busy with side projects in
both the Action Sports and Film/Television Industries.
